Electric carmakers raise funds for new models
By John Reed in LondonPublished: June 3 2011 23:40 | Last updated: June 3 2011 23:40Tesla Motors, the producer of electric sports cars that went public last year, said it had successfully placed about $211m worth of stock in a follow-on share offering.This came a day after rival California-based carmaker Fisker Automotive, which will launch a battery-powered sports car next month, said it had raised $115m from private investors, bringing the total equity it has raised so far to more than $600m.
