A nuclear plant located near a tectonic faultline should be shut down, Japan's trade and industry minister said Sunday, but he denied the government would reverse its policy on atomic power.
In a television interview, Banri Kaieda asked Chubu Electric Power to accept Prime Minister Naoto Kan's call for the suspension of operations at the Hamaoka plant southwest of Tokyo.
