On April 19, the Port of Tallinn signed an agreement with the manufacturing company of fertilizers and nitrogen compounds, Tehnonord, to build a fertilizer granulation plant at Muuga Harbor.
The construction of the facility should start in early 2012 and will be completed by 2014.
The construction cost of the plant, total output of which is expected to be 140,000 tons per year, will be around 12.3 million euros.
"Most of Tehnonord’s potential clients are located in Germany, Ireland and the Netherlands," said Ain Kaljurand, CEO of Port of Tallinn Ltd. The raw material for the production will come from Russia, the machinery will be ordered from the US and the plant will be operated by Estonian workers.
